The National Governing Body (NGB) for Modern Pentathlon in Great Britain (Pentathlon GB) is coordinating a nationwide one day Talent Identification event that will take place at 7 separate venues on the 20 February 2016.
The purpose is to identify performers that can meet both the physical targets (Swim/Run) set out in the leaflet below and issue an invite to come along to the nearest session to home on the 20 February 2016.
The sessions are all being organised at one of the seven Pentathlon GB Academies around the country and professional staff will be conducting a battery of tests.
The session is not expected to last more than 2 hours and there is no cost to those attending.
PGB see this as an amazing opportunity for those talented swimmers and athletes that may be just missing out on making elite programmes in their single discipline sport, but could quite possibly meet the World Class Programme standards in Modern Pentathlon.
All that attend on the 20 February will subsequently be offered the opportunity to attend their nearest PGB Academy for more familiarisation and engagement with our Pathway.
Please note that there will be no metafit session this Friday (11 December) for B2 & B3 squads due to our Christmas gala. A & B1 session will go ahead as normal.
Also, although it was previously advised that the last Metafit session would be held next Friday 18 December, unfortunately this session has had to be cancelled, and therefore there will be NO FURTHER SESSIONS until Friday 8 January 2016.
There will once again be an additional training session on offer to our B2 squad on Monday 7 December 2015, 5 – 7pm, due to our A/B1 squad swimmers attending the Hub.
Any swimmers able to attend this session should arrive poolside 4.45pm for pre session stretching.
Normal training schedule resumes Tuesday 8 December 2015.
Arrangements have been made to hold a Christmas Splash Session for all squads on Tuesday 22 December 2015 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
However, its not all play for our A & B squads, who I regret to inform will be training as normal after the session (7.30pm to 9.00pm) (don’t shoot the messenger!).
To put the fun into FUNdraiser we thought we’d try something a little different for our Christmas Gala and hold a Christmas Bottle Pull!
But to make it work we need everyone to take part. We would be extremely grateful if each family could donate a bottle for the stall, which can be anything from Tomato Sauce to Tequila, Lemonade to Lager, Perrier to Pimms the choice is yours! The more interesting the better!
Please could we ask that people bring their donations on Friday night to the Sweet Stall ahead of the gala next week, any late donations can be given to Sarah Fairbairn or any committee member to be passed on, but all must be received by Wednesday 9 December to be included in the pull.
Thank you in advance for your support as always it’s much appreciated!
Once again Chester-le-Street ASC produced some outstanding performances at this year’s short course championships; with 22 qualifiers, 4 bronze medallists, 5 silver medallists, 8 gold medallists, and numerous personal best performances, it made for a hugely successful (albeit jam packed!) championships.
The boys definitely had the edge at the Age Group championships, with Daniel Butler, Alex Mason, Ethan Butler and Jacob Openshaw bringing home 6 golds, 4 silver and 3 bronze between them!
Elle Brown also delivered some top performances taking Gold in 200m Fly & 800m Free, Silver in 400m Free and Bronze in the 200m Free.
All our qualifiers produced some strong swims and it was great to see so many competing at our regional championships (and in their new competition get up!)
As always a huge well done to all, next stop British Winter Championships in December.
