The Division One Final for this year’s Junior League competition will be held on Sunday 12 June 2016 at Tynemouth Swimming Pool.
Warm up is scheduled for 2.45pm for a 3.30pm start.
As usual our JL team will be travelling to the venue by coach, pick up time 1.45pm at the taxi rank near to the Red Lion (usual location).
The final Team List will be published as soon as possible.
For those parents and swimmers new to Junior League, all divisional finalists take part in a traditional costume parade at the start of the competition, with a prize awarded for the best turned out team. This is a fantastic, fun tradition which the kids love, and its always great to see all the and wonderful creations in the parade.
This year, we have decided to go with a black and white theme (here’s hoping we have more success than they’ve had on the pitch!) and will be going as “CHESS ter le Street ASC Junior League Team 2016″.
In case the penny hasn’t dropped, our youngsters will be dressing as traditional chess pieces..
We are looking for volunteers to help make this year’s costumes, so if any one is a dab hand with a pair of scissors and a staple gun and would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you!
Please speak to Lianne Pye who will add you to our ‘ team of costumiers ‘! The more the merrier!
There have been a number of items reported missing following recent competitions whilst we have managed to reunite some property with their owners, there are still a couple of items missing. Please could we ask all swimmers to carefully check their bags for any items of kit or swimwear which don’t belong to them. Any items found can be returned to Lianne Pye who will pass them on.
Please could we also remind all swimmers to clearly label all their kit.
In particular, one of our Junior League team has lost their shiny new pair of blue jazzy jammers, if anyone finds them please could you let Lianne know as soon as possible.

Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances both metafit sessions have been cancelled this week.
A reminder that there will be no metafit session for B2/B3 squads on Friday 20 & Friday 27 May due to NER championships.
Normal sessions will resume Friday 3 June 2016.
We have spent a bit of time recently listening to feedback from parents and members with regards to club communications, and are planning on introducing a few tweaks & improvements to the way in which we communicate with parents and swimmers over the coming weeks.
The most obvious one you will all see will be the installation of a new separate competition noticeboard in the spectator gallery, this smaller board will contain all our competition information, including our competition calendar, individual meet details, results and information for parents new to competing.
Our existing board will be used for notices, social and club events and fundraising, with the downstairs board only used to display permanent notices such as timetable information and contacts.
We are also planning to host a parent information session before Summer closure, as an Introduction to Competing for parents of those swimmers just starting on their competitive swimming journey, and those about to embark on it in the next few months.
Hopefully, this will enlighten parents on the joys of competitive swimming…what to expect, how to prepare & what to take etc…. Further details to follow.
We will also in the coming weeks be collecting email address information from those members who would like to be contacted via email, so that important squad information can be communicated as quickly as possible, and are looking into publishing a regular club newsletter (if we can find any willing victims.. sorry volunteers! to help us with this).
If anyone has any further suggestions or feedback on how we can improve our communications, or would like to get involved in club communications, please contact us on enquiries@chesterlestreetasc.co.uk, we’d love to hear from you.
Big congratulations go to Elle Brown on becoming our first national qualifier of 2016.
Elle has qualified for the ASA Open Water Nationals 2016, being held on July 24; qualifying with a time of 9:30:72 and 11th position on national rankings in the 800m Freestyle event.
We’re sure this is just the start of the announcements… so watch this space!
But for now a huge well done from us all.
Junior League Round 3
Well our little Junior League superstars did it again, finishing once again in 3rd place (with 179 pts) in the third and final round of the Junior League to secure their place in the Division One Final!
A fantastic result and a testament to the impressive teamwork on display at the event.
As always each and every team member gave it their absolute all, and a special mention has to go to those who joined the team last minute to cover for illness & injury, you were amazing!… and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Now we look to the final on June 12, and the traditional team costume parade… this year’s theme is… DRUM ROLL……
“CHESS… ter le Street JL Team”
That’s right our youngsters will be dressing up in black and white splendour – further details to follow.
But for now as always a HUGE well done to our JL team and we wish you all the very best of luck in the final.
The Final Team Selection List will be published as soon as possible.
Our outline competition programme is now in place for the upcoming season. Please note that this programme is subject to change, and further meets will be added by the coaching team as the season progresses.
