Rag Bag Collection

A reminder that we will be conducting a Rag Bag fundraiser at the end of January to raise valuable funds to provide competition kit & other competition support to our swimmers for 2016 league and championship events.

For those of you not familiar with the “Rag Bag” scheme, it is a recycling project used  by schools and community groups UK wide; to provide regular fundraising, whilst also helping the environment through textile recycling.

Its exceptionally easy to do, simply collect all your unwanted or outgrown (wearable) shoes & clothes, bag them up and we will collect and send to the Rag Bag organisation. The club will receive money for each KG of textiles collected – it couldn’t be easier!

So when you’re having a clear out after Christmas, bag it up and we’ll clear it for you, making money for our swimmers in the process!

Letters and collection bags will be given out to swimmers when we return to the pool in January, which will confirm the dates on which bags should be returned to the pool. Collection dates will be staggered by squad and bags can be handed to Lianne Pye.

So come on folks clear out those wardrobes to help kit out our swimmers!

As always your support is much appreciated.

Annual Presentation Evening – Sell Out

Unfortunately due to overwhelming demand, we no longer have any tickets available for the above event.

We sincerely hope that all those who wanted to attend the event have managed to secure their tickets, but regrettably we have reached capacity in terms of licensing restrictions and no further tickets can be sold.

Please could all those who have not yet collected their tickets from Ruth do so as soon as possible, as tickets will need to be brought on the night.

Full details and itinerary will be published as soon as possible, but we’re sure it will be a fantastic night and we look forward to seeing you all there.

England Talent Programme Second Stage

Its not all fun and festivities for one of our performance squad swimmers just yet. Thirteen year old Elle Brown is currently taking part in the second stage of the England Talent programme, the first phase of which was held earlier in the season.

After being joined by her team mates Alex Mason and Daniel Butler in the first round of the programme, Elle was then selected to go onto to phase two. A fantastic personal achievement of which we are all extremely proud.

We’re sure its been an amazing experience and a great opportunity for our talented young swimmer, and although hard work I’m sure she’ll be on a high just in time for Santa!

Christmas Gala – Full Results

Christmas Gala Full Results

We would like to say a huge well done to all those who took part in this year’s Christmas gala, as promised we were treated to more fantastic swimming at Sunday’s finals. It was lovely to see such team spirit and friendly competition as our swimmers battled it out for this year’s trophies. As cliched as it sounds, every one was a winner as you each gave it your all, and for those of you who didn’t quite finish in medal position, remember there’s always next year!

We would also like to say a massive thank you to all those involved in organising the event and helping on the day. These events take huge amounts of time and effort to plan, and as always we are extremely grateful for the help and support we get from our members to make sure the events are a success. I’m sure everyone is on Santa’s good list this year!

We would also like to thank our visiting officials, coaches and teachers for their support poolside.

A reminder that all awards from this year’s competition will be given at our Annual Presentation Evening, which this year is being held at Lumley Castle (full details can be accessed via the link below). Tickets are now on sale for the event, and we would be extremely grateful if members could purchase their tickets as soon as possible to enable us to finalise numbers before Christmas. Tickets are available from Ruth Moralee, Lisa Ward or Sarah Fairbairn. Swimmers will receive complimentary tickets with all other tickets costing £10 adult/£8 concessions. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Full competition results are available for download below.

** Missing Kit **

lost and found

Missing Kit

Please could we ask all swimmers who took part in last weekend’s Christmas gala to check their swim bags to ensure that they haven’t picked up another swimmer’s kit.

In particular we are looking for a black NER Championship t shirt (2014) which has the person’s name on the label.

If anyone does come across the shirt, please could you pass it to your coach to be returned to its owner.

A reminder that swimmers should ensure that all of their kit is clearly labelled, as its extremely easy for things to become mixed up poolside.

Thanks in advance for your assistance with this.

Christmas Gala  Results – Heats

Well what can we say about our heats on Friday night other than WOW! What a fantastic night of swimming, particularly from our little tots who did absolutely amazing!

It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout from our swimmers, and such fantastic support from the gallery, and I’m sure there were many a proud mum, dad & grandparent shouting their little swimmers on.

Our seasoned ‘competition veterans’ also produced some great swims with a few more county qualifying times achieved and several personal bests notched up.

I’m sure we’ll be treated to yet more great swimming in our finals on Sunday,  and we would like to wish all swimmers taking part the very best of luck!

Please find detailed below full results from Friday’s heats along with confirmation of final lists.

A reminder that Sunday’s finals are due to start at 2.30pm, with warm ups commencing at 2.00pm. Swimmers should ensure that they are poolside ready to start their warm ups by 2.00pm.
