Do you know someone who has got what it takes to be a Para-Swimmer?
The ASA are continually on the lookout for new talented para-swimmers.
There are a number of initiatives and projects running to find and get more swimmers with a physical, visual or intellectual impairment involved in para-swimming and on the pathway to the podium.
Para-Swimming Talent Identification Days are sessions where swimmers can be tested to see if they meet the criteria to become a para-swimmer.
So if you know someone who has what it takes to be a Para-Swimmer, please encourage them to come along to the following session where they can learn new skills but above all have FUN!
29th March 2016 at Consett Leisure Centre, Medomsley Road, Consett, County Durham, DH8 5HU

Please note that a slightly shorter AM training session will be held on Sunday 10 April 2016 – 7 am to 8.20am, due to the second round of the Junior League being held later that morning.
We would like to say a big congratulations to Chester-le-Street ASC swimmers Olivia Nelson, Grace Routledge, Elle Brown and James Davison, who have been accepted into Park View Elite Sports Academy.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young athletes who have reached a certain standard in their sport to access additional learning in areas such as leadership in sport, nutrition, sports psychology and target setting.
We wish them the best of luck with the programme and I’m sure that they will share their new skills and experiences with their team mates!
A reminder that we are collecting active kids vouchers, hopefully to obtain an underwater camera and land training equipment for our swimmers.
We need 1000 vouchers to get the camera, and we are now approaching the half way mark, so let’s keep going folks remember every little helps!
Vouchers are only available until the end of May this year, therefore please ask friends, neighbours even the guy in the petrol queue who doesn’t want them(!) to collect them for us and lets make sure we get that camera!
Check out our noticeboard for our ‘progress meter’. Vouchers can be given to Sarah Fairbairn or Lianne Pye at the Sweet Shop.
Last weekend saw the launch of this year’s Junior League event, with Chester-le-Street going up against the big boys for the first time since their promotion last season to Division One.
But they definitely rose to the challenge, and finished in an impressive third place behind Middlesbrough, with an overall point score of 198!
An absolutely fantastic start to the competition.
All of our swimmers performed exceptionally well, both in and out the pool, with some great swims, and fantastic team spirit on display poolside.
It was great to see our newest team members settling in so quickly, and you would never know that for some it was their very first time competing!
But there’s still definitely more challenges ahead as we go up against some of the other big local clubs – but I’m sure they’ll do us proud once again in the next round at Darlington on 10 April 2016.
Further details and team lists will be published closer to the date.
But for now a HUGE WELL DONE to all our youngsters and we wish you all the best in the coming events.

It’s that time of year again folks when we need your help!
We are looking for donations for raffle and tombola prizes for our April Open Meet being held on 23/24 April 2016.
You may know of a local business who may wish to donate a voucher or other prize, or it may be an ideal time to have a clear out of those unused Christmas gifts that are still loitering unopened in the cupboards!
Either way we would love to take them off your hands!
Please could you pass any donations to Sarah Fairbairn or Lisa Ward as soon as possible.
As always thank you in advance for your support, which we’re sure will be as generous as always!
Similarly, if anyone is able to volunteer to help on the day with anything, we would be extremely grateful, as the success of these events relies upon the support of our members.
We welcome any help at all no matter how small, so if you are able to spare a little time, please let us know by speaking to any committee member or contacting us via email at : enquiries@chesterlestreetasc.co.uk.
