Swims are still available at this year’s Burns Meet in Sheffield, and are now open to all swimmers who are old enough to compete.
To enter, fill in an entry form and give it to Joanne Palmer.
The Burns Meet is jointly hosted by Chester-le-Street ASC and Derwentside ASC.
The Qualifying Window for the British Summer Championships and the Home Nation summer meets will run from 1st March – 28th May 2018.
The Summer Championships and the three home nation summer meets continue to form part of the broader Performance Pathway Strategy aimed at supporting the UK’s junior swimming talent on their journey towards senior medal-winning international performances.
Entry to these key end of season events will be by invitation only, from performances recorded in this designated Qualifying Window. The 24 top ranked swimmers in each event in each age grouping will be invited to attend the British Summer Championships, with the exception of the 800m and 1500m events where the top 18 will be invited.
Entries will be accepted from competitors registered as members of a British Swimming home nation federation (Swim England, Scottish Swimming or Swim Wales).
British Swimming will again be providing an opportunity from 1st January 2018 for athletes wishing to indicate their Home Nation choice for the end of season summer meets.
All swimmers should note that when identifying qualifiers for the Home Nations meets, the system will assume that athletes wish to be ranked by the country of their ranked club.
If swimmers wish instead to be invited on the basis of country of representation then individuals must email HNMeetChoice@swimming.org with their name, date of birth, membership number, and current ranked club and registered Country of Representation, and then clearly state their wish to be ranked by their Country of International Representation in relation to the Home Nation Summer Meets. This needs to be done no later than midnight on 1st May 2018.
This year, and for the first time, we will be publishing weekly rankings list once the Qualifying Window opens. A final draft rankings list will be produced on 1st June, once the Window has closed. This final check will allow for any corrections alongside a request that athletes that do not wish to compete in events withdraw to ensure that others can be invited to the British Summer Championships and respective Home Nation summer meets. The final definitive list of summer meet entries will be formalised on 8th June 2018, with invites to follow.
The 2018 British Summer Championships will be held from 24th to 29th July at Ponds Forge in Sheffield – more details of the event can be found here.

Junior League training as such is no longer going ahead due to the new timetables. All swimmers are to attend their allocated Sunday sessions as per their timetable.
Coaches will carry out their own Junior League training where necessary within their own squads and team selection will be announced (on noticeboards and website) approximately two weeks before each round along with time schedules and team bus depature times.
Please note that team selection may vary between rounds. Team selection will be based on speed, technique and weekly attendance.
Should a swimmer not be choosen please do not take this as a negative and if you feel you need clarification, please do not hesitate to approach a coach.
All swimmers will be expected to compete in a Chester-le-Street ASC club hat and wear club t-shirts poolside.
Junior League has its own section on our club website, where all information can be easily found.
Accepted entries for the 2018 Burns Meet are now available. All entries have been accepted.

Having several swimmers in your family can soon make swimming expensive, but here at Chester-le-Street ASC we offer discounts for families of three or more swimmers.
The way we work out your discount can soon get complicated, so we are excited to unveil our new online Squad Fee Calculator which will allow you to work out your monthly fees and automatically apply any discounts that you are eligible for.
The Fee Calculator service is currently in Beta, and we hope to make further improvements to it as we get further feedback. We hope you find this new tool useful and new online services are on the way.
You can give feedback to websitefeedback@chesterlestreetasc.co.uk.
