Easter Fundraiser 2015
A big thank you to all who helped support our “Easter Sweet Treat Fundraiser”.
It was a huge success and needless to say we had some rather “eggcited” children!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all those involved in Saturday’s event.
The day was a tremendous success from the fantastic performances in the pool, to the generous support and help from parents and members.
Thank you to all who donated their time and effort to ensure the event ran smoothly on the day, whether it was officiating, helping poolside, fundraising or behind the scenes organisation. Without such overwhelming support the event would not have been such a success.
A special mention has to go to Lorraine’s colossal scones, which were definitely a huge hit…. and rumour has it Greggs have launched a covert operation to steal the recipe!
Great club effort!
The nerves and excitement now behind them, our three talented swimmers have returned following some fantastic performances in the pool – with some wonderful memories and stories to tell no doubt!
Elle Brown, our youngest competitor, delivered an amazing performance in the Women’s 200m Butterfly. As one of only three 13 year olds to qualify for the event, ( a fantastic achievement in itself) Elle finished an impressive 17 th position overall in the 13/14 year age group, after beating her 13 year old counterparts, in a new personal best time of 2:30:27. An incredible achievement given her young age and that it was her championship debut.
Team mate Lauren, also delivered some excellent swims. Lauren qualified for the Women’s 50m and 100m Freestyle events, in which she finished in 11th and 16th positions overall for the 15/16 years age group. Lauren achieved new personal best times in both events of 27:15 and 59:0 respectively.
Finally, Adam competing in the 100m and 200m Butterfly events, showed true grit and determination, producing an outstanding performance in the Men’s 200m Butterfly heats. Adam finished 7 th in the 17/18 year old age group in a time of 2:05:49, which earned him a place in the final. After producing another fantastic swim, Adam finished 8th overall in a new personal best time of 2:05:30. He also finished 13th in the 100m event for his age group, in a time of 56:77.
The Championships themselves were an amazing experience for all involved, showcasing the best of British swimming talent. Attendees were even fortunate enough to witness the setting of a new world record. Adam Peaty from City of Derby Swimming Club, won the Men’s 100m Breastroke in a new world record time of 57:92 – becoming the first man to break the 58 second barrier!
It goes without saying that we are immensely proud of all three swimmers and I’m sure it was a truly memorable experience all round!
Hopefully next year we will have a few more of our swimmers taking part.
This handy guide outlines all the changes to our Domestic Competition Structure and explains how these aim to contribute to the development of swimmers in the sport going forward.
