From 14 April 2016, ALL swimmers and relevant adults will require a ‘ThriveCard ‘to be able to access the changing room, large pool, small pool spectator area and small pool.
What is a ThriveCard?
It a plastic card/key fob that will allow CLS ASC coaches, relevant adults and ALL swimmers poolside, into the changing area or to the small pool spectator area via a turnstile currently located before the changing area, and a new turnstile not yet installed down the access corridor located before both pools and the small pool spectator area.
How do I get one?
An application form must be completed and put in a CLS ASC box at the leisure centre reception desk. Forms are available for download below or can be obtained from the Reception desk. A separate form must be completed for each person requiring access.
Once the application has been processed, cards can be collected from Reception.
Will there be any charges involved?
No, cards are free to CLS ASC as they are purely for access. There will also be no charges for replacement cards should they be required.
I already have a ThriveCard can I use it?
Yes, just go the swimming pool reception desk and ask them to add the required access
When will the turnstiles start working?
A provisional date of the 14th April has been given, therefore please could parents ensure that application forms are completed and handed in as soon as possible.
If anyone has any further questions regarding this, please speak to Ruth Moralee.

Katy Ovington formerly of Chester-le-Street ASC, has retired from competitive swimming, after competing for the last time in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship earlier this year.
Katy, a former pupil at Framwellgate School Durham, left Chester-le-Street ASC in December 2013 to take up a swimming scholarship with Southern Illinois University in the USA, where she joined a women’s squad comprising of swimmers and divers from the USA, China, Australia, Brazil, Poland, El Salvador, Canada, and Germany.
During the past three years, she has competed against top university teams across America, in the USA’s top flight, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division 1 under coach Rick Walker, scoring highly in 100 & 200yds (remember its the USA folks!) Backstroke events.
However, whilst it may be the end of a long and successful swimming career, Katy plans to remain in the USA to complete her major in Kinesiology with a view to progressing to medical school. She has recently been nominated for the Southern Illinois University ‘Dorothy Davies Award’ and also the ‘Lingle-Ittner Family Memorial Award’, which are awarded for academic, athletic and leadership attainment within the universities Kinesiology department where Katy is actively involved and employed as a research assistant in a program developing the physical rehabilitation of cancer victims.
It is always fantastic to hear of ex-members’ continued success, both in and out of the pool and we wish Katy all the best with her future studies.
