Rio Summer of Sport Event

- Fundraising, Notices

Chester le Street ASC

By now all squads should have received their sponsorship forms for the above event, and plans are underway in earnest for our very own Chester-le-Street Olympics. If you need a sponsorship form, select the one for your squad here; A/B Squads, Junior Pool Sponsor FormSD Squads Sponsor Form.

The event will be held over two days Friday 8 July 2016 and Sunday 10 July 2016.

Friday night’s swimalympic events will be held during NORMAL training times, with the exception of SD4 squad, who will be joining in the fun.

The events will be team based, and squads will be assigned to one of 6 teams, with activities ranging from Swim the Channel, Obstacle Relays and woggle races! Points will be awarded to teams based on teamwork and effort.

Our Swimalympics are a sponsored event, and each swimmer has been given a sponsorship form for their squad’s activity. The event is being held to raise funds jointly for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, The Hearing Fund UK, in addition to Chester-le-Street ASC, and we hope that you will all support these worthy causes.

Sponsorship money will be collected in the week commencing Monday 11 July 2016, and can be given to Lianne Pye or Christine Gibson Lee. Please could we ask that all money is handed in by Friday 22 July 2016.

Rio Olympic Event

Sunday’s event is designed to be a celebration of teamwork, fun and frolics as 6 teams battle it out to be crowned Chester’s Olympic Champions. Swimmers will be put into 6 mixed teams and will take part in 3 Olympic events, hosted around the Park View arena!

Each team will collect points based on the event and teamwork.

I’m sure after all that effort our teams will have worked up an appetite Hog Roast and a small buffet will be on offer, along with refreshments and entertainment throughout the event.

To round off the festivities, we will host our very own Presentation ceremony, not only to the winning team, but also our Junior League Team 2016, in recognition of their fantastic performances in this year’s competition.

The event is designed to be a fun family day, and we ask that parents stay and join in with the celebrations, be it encouraging from the sidelines (we all know what enthusiastic spectators you can be) or even joining in (you know you want to)!

We are sure it will be a jam packed weekend of fun competition for our swimmers, and we look forward to seeing as many there as possible.

A reminder that this is a free event, however we do need to know expected numbers. Therefore, if you haven’t already done so, please could you either email or alternatively let a member of the committee know if you are planning on attending.
