Well it was another fantastic round of swimming from our youngsters; with our dream team finishing in 5th position overall with a total point score of 150, just 3 points behind Tynemouth who took 4th place.
A fabulous achievement for their division one debut year.
Gateshead and Whickham came out on top as 2016 division one winners ahead of rivals Stockton, in a tight run race between the two ( only one point in it at the half way point!)
This year’s coveted costume award went to Tynemouth in their blue and gold splendour ( they did look great we have to admit!) but our black and white army did themselves proud, and looked ‘CHESS tacular’ as they brought up the rear of the parade!
Which leads us onto the thankyous… events like this don’t just happen, and there has been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to prepare the swimmers, make costumes and organise things on the day.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who helped make the costumes, another big thank you to Fiona and Emily for all their help organising the children both on and off poolside, our officials for volunteering their services, and last but not least, the coaches for all their efforts preparing, training and managing the team!
So we may not have brought home the trophies this year; but we are immensely proud of our youngsters, who showed true team spirit throughout the competition and delivered their absolute best in the pool, which is what it’s all about!
So one final well done to all who have taken part in this year’s competition, and guess what we get to do it all again next year!
WELL DONE JUNIOR LEAGUE TEAM 2016!
