Linda Carlo, a swimming teaching veteran of 22 years, is currently embarking on a mammoth 250 mile swim through England, as part of a combined personal weight loss challenge and charity fundraiser. Linda set herself the gruelling challenge last July, when she decided to do the 250 mile sponsored swim in aid of The Hearing Fund UK.
Swimming five times a week (with a few extra miles here and there) she aims to complete the swim in a year, and half way through the challenge she is bang on schedule to complete it on Friday 6th August 2016!
After swimming 122 miles, Linda finally reached our neck of the woods; and being originally from Chester-le-Street, it clearly brought back happy memories. Not to let an opportunity pass us by, we have arranged a special “stop off” at Chester-le-Street Pool this weekend, where Linda has very kindly agreed to come and swim ” a mile” with our swimmers!
Linda will be coming to swim with our A and B squad swimmers on Sunday 14 February 2016 between 2pm and 4pm (exact time to be confirmed asap) and I’m sure you will all do us proud in supporting her in this fantastic challenge.
As this is very much an unscheduled stop (!) we are hoping to invite Linda back to the pool later in the year for an “official fundraising event”, further details for which will be published as soon as available.
In the meantime, you can follow Linda’s progress on her blog, where Chester-le-Street ASC even get a mention!
